Meet The Team

The Fitness Function Ltd is the brainchild of Julie Burfoot-Brown who is a leading expert within the Fitness Industry, with over twenty years’ experience and knowledge. Julie has been involved with Education of Fitness Instructors for ten years and has successfully run her own Personal Training business in the Penn and Tylers Green area for the last decade.

Since the GRAVITY phenomenon came over from the U.S. seven years ago, Julie has been part of the GRAVITY UK Master Training Team. She frequently presents for GRAVITY UK and Physical Company for BOSU and Pilates. You will see her teaching regularly in both of The Fitness Function studios.

This new business will develop Julie’s vision of a locally-based, standalone training facility which bridges the gap between what she considers the expensive Personal Training sessions and the mainstream impersonal and ineffective gyms. The vision is to provide affordable small group training which effectively meets the fitness needs of the clients, whilst giving a high level of customer service and care.

Lucy’s passion is helping people achieve healthier lifestyles and she aims to share her love of exercise far and wide! She believes workouts should be fun and achievable, while delivering results no matter what your level of fitness. Lucy has a broad range of expertise that she brings to her classes.

To Dawn, age is just a number and fitness is open to everyone, no matter what your age, experience or starting point.
 
She believes that wellbeing is about being fit, healthy and enjoying what you do and knows how many people can be put off by certain types of sport and exercise – so she is on mission to make fitness enjoyable, relevant and achievable for everyone!

Claire is one of the team manning the front desk at The Fitness Function. Her background is in PR and Marketing which she has specialised in for over 15 years. She was Associate Director with a London-based agency managing global businesses before taking a career break to raise her family.

Claire is a big fan of exercise classes to keep fit, especially Pilates, Gravity and Kettlebells. She doesn’t much like traditional gyms and has only ever done running while in fancy dress for sponsorship!

Suzanne teaches Bike Fit classes at the Fitness Function and also covers Gravity and Studio classes. 


In 2000, she trained to be an aerobics instructor and taught classes until putting this on hold to focus on her family. In recent years she's gained Gravity and Indoor Cycling qualifications and is also studying for a degree.


She has always had a passion for health and fitness and regularly runs and goes to the gym.

Victoria is a qualified yoga expert who has been teaching for nearly ten years. She’s a pragmatic and down-to-earth teacher who shares her experience with a sense of humour and passion.
 
Her mission is to demystify Yoga and show clients techniques to stretch achy muscles, strengthen sore joints and learn how to relax. Victoria strongly believes that Yoga is inclusive and suitable for every age and stage of your life; whether you’re a professional athlete or a grandmother of six, you’ll find a style of Yoga to suit your fitness goals and meet your needs.

Favourite Yoga pose:  Downward Facing Dog is such a great stretch for all problem areas: back, shoulders, neck and hamstrings.

Words of wisdom for clients:  Yoga isn’t about being a contortionist – you don’t even need to be flexible before you start. Also, don’t assume that Yoga will be a 'soft' option – it’s challenging but in a different way compared to other forms of exercise!

When I’m not doing Yoga:  You’ll find me drawing digital artworks on my ipad (the sketch book and pencil are so last century!) or pottering with the veg crops in my garden.

 

Candy’s background is in dance, so she brings an element of poise, focus and fun to all her classes.
 
She loves building a client’s confidence over a series of sessions and enjoys helping them make the changes that they desire. To Candy, if you believe you can do it then you can!

Favourite place:  At the dining table on a Sunday lunchtime with all the family.
Angie strongly believes that you’re never too old to do anything you want to do! She feels that being fit and healthy should be a part of everyday life, so that if things don’t go to plan then you’re able to power through!
 
Having been in the fitness industry for 20 years, she currently teaches a variety of classes in the local area, including Bike Fit classes here at the Fitness Function.

Amazing Fact about Angie: She has ridden a 400cc Honda racing bike for 20 laps around Brands Hatch.

Elaine is passionate to empower others to find their wellness through a healthy mind, body and soul. She is a level 3 qualified personal trainer, yoga teacher, life coach, and holistic therapist. She is qualified to teach in Kettlebells, core, circuits, suspension and Gravity.
 

From her own life experiences and her extensive knowledge and qualifications, she works with clients to bring out their best in a caring and nurturing way whilst motivating them to work hard to achieve results.

 

Words of wisdom for clients: Listen to your body, it has the answers.


Favourite place: Anywhere in nature, near the ocean and in the sun.


How I work out myself: Daily and varied, including yoga, HIIT, spin, long walks and dancing.

Fran believes that the best way to keep fit is to do something you love, because even on difficult training days you will get through!

She has been in the fitness industry for 22 years, teaching in a variety of gyms and health clubs. Her expertise is in Pilates, Indoor Cycling and Gravity.
